feedback survey emails from Virgin Media & Medallia

I have been receiving emails from Virgin Media & Medallia with the subject line saying "The Virgin Media team would like to hear your feedback." The email contains my first and last name but does not contain any other identifiable information. Some companies do seem to outsource this so I am wondering if this is the case here.

The email is currently coming from YourOpinion@survey.virginmedia.co.uk

Who/what is Medallia and are they a company which VM uses?

For what it's worth, I get those same emails a few days after I've used any of the self-service CS options. Status page, first level of the CS-IVR, etc.

Virgin have been using Medallia for surveys for a longtime now 

As @japitts said, after any contact to Virgin will usually get one sent your way.

Is there any way to opt out of these surveys as I do not want to receive them.

No way to opt-out as far as I know ☹️

It seems as though you can potentially opt out of receiving them by changing your marketing preferences. The preferences were changed and I immediately received an email telling me that my marketing preferences had been changed although the email informed me that it may take up to 28 days for these preferences to be updated.
