Transfer old landline number

Hi, can someone please advise how I can get me old landline number transferred?

It should have happened automatically but didn't.

Hello

To be able too help you can you answer the following

1) Who were you porting the number from ?

2) When was you VM installed as can take 10 days for number port to complete, as both lines need to be active to do the port.

3) Was the previous number still active without a cancellation on it, as if it was not by ofcom rules a port cannot be performed.

Hi Mike, to answer:-

1) From Sky

2) installed 8 days ago

3) old number still active (but only for 1 more week, hence anxious for transfer to complete)

Hello

You say that the account is due to be terminated in 1 week, therefore will have a cancellation order on it, SKY will refuse the port if it is due to be cancelled, the porting will do the cancellation itself, you need to speak to SKY to stop the  cancellation.

Do you have asked Sky to cancel your account including the phone line?
If so the port will fail. you can't have a request to cancel the line

Hi Mike does that mean that I need to give Sky another month's line rental just to port my number?

Something doesn't seem right with this.

I had the full package with Sky and changed to Virgin, thinking it would be simple.

But thanks for your help anyway.

Hello

The rules for porting and guidelines are set by Ofcom and there is no away around this I am afraid, you need to call Sky and stop the cancellation, it would down to Sky if they tie you to another 30 days.
