I've been experiencing crackling on the land line for several days and the status page keeps reporting "whoops, you caught us updating some things" (stupid, condescending message BTW) so I can't determine if the fault is at my end or Virgins.
Anyone else having problems? EH54 area.

I've checked your area and there isn't any current logged issues which may be causing this. Does the landline crackle with every call?
