Hub 5 - 'Missed' Calls

gap84
Up to speed

This is a strange one, so wondering if anyone else has observed something like this...

With the home phone plugged into the Hub 5, I am seeing frequent missed calls from 'No number' at a variety of times during the day.  But if I call 1471 I am getting call data older than this (which relate to 'real' calls), so seems like we are getting spurious missed call data to the phone from the Hub.

Has anyone else observed anything similar?

Hi Vikki

on the other thread on this topic and the private messages, I was told by VM staff that the only solution is to either change my number or block all anonymous calls - can you just confirm this is incorrect and a firmware solution is being looked into? The ‘spoofing’ suggestion they have given seems erroneous, so hoping this is being investigated as an actual bug.

Hi @gap84

If you are in a private message thread with a member of the team, if you could kindly pop back to them directly, they will be able to advise further for you.

I can confirm its a known issue and that the team are working on a software update to get this fixed.

Hi

Just wanted to say, same thing has been happening to me since I got the Hub 5. Every few hours, my cordless phones make a short "chirp" noise and then there's another missed call in the call log. More annoying is that this happens during the night (as well as the day) and the bedroom phone is right by my bed. It flashes a red light when there's a missed call, so if the "chirp" doesn't wake me, then the light has a good try as well.

Seems there's some "noise" occurs on the phone socket every few hours, which the cordless phones interpret as an incoming call which immediately fails, and then they show that as a missed call.

Please do fix this asap, as it is getting quite tiresome!

Hi Chippy_boy, thanks for the message and welcome to the forums.

I am sorry to hear that you are getting missed calls and this is a fault which we are aware of and are working to get this resolved.

Have you thought about changing the number or adding caller reject?

Kind regards, Chris.

Hi Chris_W1

Thanks for your reply. Certainly wouldn't consider changing the number. We don't need a landline at all other than so my 87 year old Mum with dementia can ring it, and if we changed the number, that would defeat the object 😉

And regards, caller-reject, I really don't think that would do anything because no-one is calling and there's nothing to reject. There is no missed call. It's simply the Hub5 is doing something on the phone line periodically which the phone thinks is an incoming call which gets immediately disconnected. So the phone system flags it as a missed call. I am sure there was no call, so barring calls isn't going to help, I am sure.

Our IT teams are aware of this and are working to get this resolved. There is no fix time at present and is being investigated. ^Chris.

Re: Phantom House Phone Calls

This is still an ongoing problem. My home phone lights up many times during the day and night,  "Incoming call" changes to "UNAVAIL" and then reverts to handset screen and goes off.... No Ringing, No messages and no record of any calls

If this is a known hub problem, what are they doing to rectify it and when is a remedy forthcoming. It has obviously been happening for several weeks prior to my initial comment?

This is a real pain for us, disturbing sleep every night, causing distractions whilst working or relaxing.

I have tried the self help pages, absolutely useless, Click on the contact us tab and go round in circles.

Who can I call to sort this out, 150 just advise to reboot the hub, but I cannot even find out how to do that, Stick a paperclip in a hole, cannot find a hole

HELP

Hey 1malcolmgeorge, thank you for reaching out and I am sorry you are having some issues with your router and phone.

As mentioned I would try and do a pin hole reset first, you can find out how to do it here.

Once this has been done please can you let us know if it has fixed it or not.

Is it also ever doing this in the day time or just at night? Thanks

Hi,

I am also experiencing this issue, the phone never rings but it records it on the telephone. It happened ever since upgrading to the Hub 5 which has been 1 month. It shows a missed call every couple of hours and it always has the last minute as 6m.

Thanks.
