My land line socket is in the bedroom on the window sill and my virgin hub is under the tv in the living room. This new adaptor that has just been delivered appears useless ?

Hi @schofs2
Welcome to the community.
Sorry to hear that you're having issues with your landline set up. You'll need to relocate your main landline handset to be close to the router. The landline rj11 cable will now plug into the adapter that needs to be placed into the TEL 1 port at the back of your router.
If you need phones in other areas of the home other than near your router, you can look into wireless phone or DECT phones for this type of in home set up.

Alternatively ...
You ask VM to modify your home phone wiring so you can use your existing landline extension sockets via the phone connection from the VM hub.
VM should offer to do this free of charge for you as part of the switchover process.
Make sure they make modifications to your phone wiring so you can keep each piece of equipment in the same place (rather than the offer which sometimes crops up on here to move the hub to a different location)

Do I need to book a technician visit?

Sorry, but I do not want to move my landline socket, and do not want a landline phone socket in the living room.
Thinking of cancelling my virgin landline and just relying on my mobile ?

Thanks for coming back to us @schofs2, your existing landline socket will no longer be active, once the changeover goes ahead, unless we can send a technician out to re-wire them as @goslow stated in their last post. Would you like me to arrange a visit for this to be done for you?
if you are thinking of removing the landline part of your package that may increase the monthly cost of your package as it may have been sold as a bundle and if that is removed, any discounts that you had maybe removed.
