Crackling phone line

My phone line is crackling so we cannot make or receive calls. There is a faint dial tone under the crackle. Please could you advise how to sort the problem. Thanks

Thank you for your post and welcome to the forums. 

I apologise that you're facing this issue at present - have you been able to check the service status page in the top right to see if there are any issues in your area that could be relating to the problem? I know it's not always possible but do you have a different handset what you can try also? Don't worry if not - just let me know 🙂

Thanks for answering. I have checked the Service Status and there are no problems in the area. I have unplugged all the phones and checked connections and all seem to be ok. Unfortunately I don’t have another phone to try.

engineer came out and found water in connection box outside the house
