Blocking nuisance calls

Does anyone know how to block unwanted and nuisance home phone calls? We have moved from BT who have this feature but I can't find it on the Virgin phone website.

It's such a useful feature I can't believe Virgin don't have it so I keep looking! (I suspect forlornly?)

Re: Blocking nuisance calls

No provider can “block” all nuisance calls, however you can get caller reject from Virgin which will stop calls from coming through which are ringing you on a withheld number.

If it’s not withheld who is calling then your only option is to register with TPS (telephone preference service) online. It’s free and takes about 3 weeks to reduce the Nusiance calls or to get a “Nusiance call blocker handset” from Argos/currys/amazon etc which can block them kinds of calls.

Re: Blocking nuisance calls

I am not sure what you mean by saying "No provider can “block” all nuisance calls". Any number can be blocked if the provider is willing. If no will is there you have to buy your own phone with a blocking feature.

BT provide a standard database of blocked numbers that you can opt into. And a further database for personal use that you can add your own numbers to block.

Re: Blocking nuisance calls

Thanks JohnSe. Do you think BT would provide these databases for a Virgin customer?

Re: Blocking nuisance calls

My answer was that simply no provider can block “ALL” Nusiance calls, there are far to many to block and new ones are made every day, allot of Nusiance calls are now masked as local numbers. So to block every one in the world would be impossible.

As you mentioned BT have a database you can opt into, this isn’t every number as mentioned above the numbers increase everyday and Virgin Media do not have this feature anyway.

The options I mentioned in my original post are the only options you have whilst with Virgin Media.

Hope this helps clear things up a little 😊

Re: Blocking nuisance calls

No, I do not think that is possible. They come with a BT account on request.
