Activation of ported number

Hi Folks,

First post here as a new customer.

Could someone tell me how long it takes for a number to be ported from

BT to VM ? Ive been up and running since Friday night, and there is a

dial-tone but as yet the phone doesnt ring suing our (hopefully) ported number.

I'm just waiting on that so i can cancel with BT.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi Mazbass,

 

Thanks so much for your first post and welcome to the Community Forums!

 

Number ports do usually take around 10 working days from the date that the port request was made. Just to confirm, did you specify when you moved over to Virgin Media that you would like to have your existing BT number ported over?

 

But yes, please do keep your landline service active with BT until the port has completed so we can ensure that the port does complete successfully. 

 

If you are unsure if the port has been requested, just let us know and we'll be happy to check this for you 🙂

Thanks for the quick reply Beth,

I filled in the number when i ordered online on the 13th of this month,

and i installed and activated on Fri 19th. Everything looks fine on the hub

and the dial-tone is present. So is it just a matter of waiting?

(I'm not keen on being on the hook for another month of BT)

Hi Maz,

 

No problem at all!

 

If the form has been filled and opted in for the number port then all should be well :). If you have registered for your My Virgin Media account, you should be able to see the Number Port order from there if you want to take a look. You just need to head over to the 'my account' section and select 'track my order'.

Thanks again Beth,

Ive had a look under "track My Order"  but it just says

"It Looks like you don't have any open orders".

Could you possibly check that the request hsa been made

or went thru ?
