Upload Speed down to sub 6Mbps

At approximately 11.20pm yesterday upload speeds fell from 36Mbps to sub 6Mbps.

Durational tests indicate a range of inconsistent speeds from as low as 1.3Mbps through to 8Mbps. Typically averaging 6Mbps.

As someone who has been approached with a contract by VM to join their Creative Team working with Twitch to promote the service you can imagine the utter absurdity of this right now. All year we've been having issues and only when we liaised with the CEO's office did we see a resolution.

Just been on the phone only to jump through all the hoops with you to be told 'please call back when the office is open'.

This is now getting to be beyond a joke to be honest with you.

Failure after failure to provide an adequate or even barely functional service.

Please respond ASAP as this seems to be the only place where anything seems to get done - and even then only once the CEO's team get involved.

Once again I enter the whirlwind of frustration that is VM support...

Re: Upload Speed down to sub 6Mbps

afaik the CEO's team have no presence here - if that is who you are trying to contact you need to try other channels

if you want help here its initially peer to peer - you can post the levels from your hub and users will comment and help - VM do have a presence here and will get to the thread in time - if that fits with your ASAP then post some info

Re: Upload Speed down to sub 6Mbps

theres nothing there that would suggest a problem - its always worth trying a reboot of the hub and if that does not help try a full reset

how are you testing the speed - wired or by wifi always test wired but as you have had good speeds that would seem not relevant - has anything changed in your setup - a test in modem mode is next on the list of things to try - after that you need input from VM

Re: Upload Speed down to sub 6Mbps

A serious and very worrying conversation (happy to share a recording) with VM's Phone Support HelpDesk.

As soon as I stated my problem as 'we have an issue with the upload speed dropping down to around 10-20% of what we would normally expect,' I was informed that due to this being a 'residential line' and not a 'business line' that any issues with upload speed were not considered a resolvable issue by VM.

Last time I called I was told I could 'hire' a WiFi extender to fix my wired connection issues.

What on earth is going on over there?

Re: Upload Speed down to sub 6Mbps

As per this thread some months ago Tony - https://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Gaming-Support/A-very-SERIOUS-issue-with-VM-spread-the-word/td-... I have tried and ruled out everything locally.

This is an exact repeat issue and is very clearly an issue with the local box yet again.

thats the sort of rubbish i would expect from offshore but i did not think they were working - maybe i am wrong - if its the UK then they are also making it up as they go on - wait for VM to get to the thread and see what they say - as said there is nothing in your levels to show a problem so they need to look deeper
