High Ping through Zayo Servers - Fifa Input Delay

Hi all,

I have an issue with Fifa leading to unplayable input delay in game. I have gone through all recommended steps with no improvement.

To me the issue is clear, it's Zayo servers in the US.

  • I reach 64.125.30.52 (Zayo) in around 25ms on average.
  • I then have 100% packet loss through three hops.
  • Packet loss returns to 0% but ping is in excess of 100ms at this point.

It seems many customers have issues identical to that set out above, high ping and input delay due to the route through these servers.

Is anyone from Virgin working on a fix?
Can the route be changed?
Are Zayo aware of this issue?

I would really appreciate some honest support here as I have called into Virgin's tech team a few times on this issue and it is honestly a disgrace.

What is the IP of the server you're connecting to?

I'm not sure Virgin will consider this a problem as 100ms is normal for a US (east coast) server. The 100% packet loss is also normal and simply means the server is set to disregard ping requests.

100ms with spikes to 300ms.

100ms is not suitable for online gaming.

The issue I have is it is reaching these Zayo servers in an average of 25ms. However when it leave their infrastructure it's over 100ms. So the problem is with them.

Ive just done another quick traceroute. The start of Zayo is 64.125.30.52 in 31ms the next hop is then 64.125.30.236 at 112ms. So it's jumping up when it reached them.

The jump in latency in the trace is the transatlantic hop

Re: High Ping through Zayo Servers - Fifa Input Delay

Ah yes you're correct. Apologies u thought I checked that last night. It explains the jump then.

I suppose the question then is why my PS4 is connecting to Fifa through their US servers and not European....

Re: High Ping through Zayo Servers - Fifa Input Delay

That is indeed the question. Depends what model of online gubbins it uses..

From memory the FIFA games use a P2P model for most multiplayer, so server lag shouldn't impact that much.

The net code tries to smooth out the P2P by introducing small amounts of lag for players on faster connections, so it could be you are suffering as a result of other players potato internet.

How do OTHER multiplayer games perform?

Re: High Ping through Zayo Servers - Fifa Input Delay

hi pal, bit late response but did you every get this problem solved? I'm having the exact same issue as the one your explaining. I mainly play madden and fifa and my trace routes are also showing pings are normal until hop 10(uk.zayo.com) and high packet loss is occurring on hop 10 11 and 12. My ping spikes to over 100ms at hop 10 and carries all the way to the end destination(easo.ea.com)
