FFXIV Error 90002 on a Superhub 3

I've suddenly started running into the error 90002 with FFXIV. I get disconnected a fair bit no matter the time of day or night at this point.

I've done the port-forwarding recommended in other threads, I'm using an ethernet cable directly to the SH3 and have done the usual tests VM recommended in other threads.

I have tried diagnosing myself but I've ran out of ideas. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi MechaGS,

I am sorry to hear you've been experiencing issues.

Is it just when you play FFXIV that you encounter connection issues, or do you also experience this with other games?

Thanks,

Tom_S

Only FFXIV it seems. My online video streaming services (Netflix, Crunchyroll) and other online games seem to work just fine.

Re: FFXIV Error 90002 on a Superhub 3

Thank you, do you play any other online games at all that might experience these issues?

If so and you've not had any problems it may be due to routing issues for your connection to the Square Enix servers.

Are you playing on PC or console? If you have a PC or laptop have you tried a trace route test to the game's services to see if the connection fails or times out at all? Windows TRACERT

Thanks,

Tom_S

Re: FFXIV Error 90002 on a Superhub 3

I don't play any other MMO's but I do play fighting games over multiple platforms with no issues. I play FFXIV on PC and using ethernet.

I have done a fresh trace-route:

Re: FFXIV Error 90002 on a Superhub 3

Thank you for running this test.

It looks to be failing on a couple of steps. Are you able to ping another server to see if you receive similar results? I'd recommend trying to ping either Google, EA's servers or Bungie's servers.

Thanks,

Tom_S

@Tom_S AFAIK server's timing out isn't the same as failing, the trace does move on to the next hop.  Have a look at this recent post from @ravenstar68 for some pointers:

@MechaGS Have you tried a test with the hub in modem mode?  I'm not suggesting this as a long term solution, merely a test to see if the routing within the hub or other devices connected at the same time are causing the issue.

Re: FFXIV Error 90002 on a Superhub 3

I doubt I'll get away with trying modem mode for very long since I share the connection with others in the house and they are connected via wifi.

I'll see what I can do on that front.

I appreciate it might not be easy, but if it still happens in modem mode we can rule out the hub as the cause and move on to other possibilities.
