I am having a similar problem to one I had around this time last year.
I contacted Virgin about the SMTP and POP3 passwords that are not working. They changed the password and the POP3 seemed to work for a short while and then reverted back to not working.
I am currently working overseas and this is the only means of contact that I have so it is key that I get the SMTP and POP3 permissions back up and working again.
Any help would be much appreciated,

I posted earlier about smtp and pop3 settings not working.
I am now getting an alert saying that my mailbox is not available.

I tried that and it seems to have worked.
I'll keep an eye on it as it reverted back to not working when I tried this previously - last year although it may have been a different cause,
