T0 be able to give you the right information there are a couple of questions that need answering
1) Are you still a Virginmedia Broadband Customer ?
If you are no longer a VM broadband customer then the email address is an orphan see https://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Email/Orphan-Email-accounts/td-p/3492073 and all the staff can do is too delete the account as per T&C account should have been deleted 90 days after account was closed although some hang around for a lot longer.
2) If you are is the account a primary or secondary email address ?
If it secondary account you can change the password here - https://my.virginmedia.com/my-profile/listUsers
If it is a primary account password can be changed here https://my.virginmedia.com/forgot-details/username

If you delete the email will I no longer be able to see my old emails?
If the account is deleted then yes as only Virginmeedia Broadband customers are entitled to use a Virginmedia email address.
