Yes I’ve 2 other email addresses and they are working fine.

Splendid.  You said you have tried changing settings, so I am assuming you have already ADDED the ntlworld address (they call it an account, but I like to use the word address) into the iPhone mail app at some point.

You need to delete the address you have already set up.  But the apple email app holds onto the server settings and messes things up the next time you try to add it!

You will see in Ravenstar68’s post how to really delete the smtp server.  Scroll down to the words “Removing Unused SMTP Servers”.   I recall having to choose to amend it or else it WOULD NOT DELETE.  Give it a new name (I typed a random number somewhere in the name of the server) and save that detail.  Then select it for deletion.  Delete anything to do with ntlworld,  virginmedia, blueyonder or virgin.net.

Yes have done that. Thanks

Now you should be able to set up the ntlworld address.  I was going to recommend doing it in airplane mode, as that was easier for us back in 2014 on the iPad.  But I just dug my iPod out of my bag (forgot it was there earlier).  The ntlworld address set up instantly with no problem using the recommended imap.virginmedia.com and smtp.virginmedia.com server settings.  https://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Email/Email-settings-change/m-p/3369438#M157131

Can you do it as well?

Yes I’ll try that now thankyou!

I have had lots of problems over the last few days. Trying to get my NTL emails. After hours on the phone i was told to change my password and use Chrome. Which was fine for laptop . However I cannot change the safari browser on my phone. I phoned back and then they told me that they dont really know what to do with NTL world emails.

They then sent me a link which did not work - then phoned back again and they told me to get an app called My Virgin media emails ( I told him it does not exist ) !!

They said I will no longer be able to get my emails through the normal shortcut icon on my phone but will need to go to Virgin media, via explorer then sign in each time to get emails.exist) - I said this will take a while everytime I do this and need two hands so unable to look at emails on the go or commuting -  they then basically gave up and tried to pass me through to a team called gadget team - but got cut off or he hanged up (which seems to happen every time they cant fix things)

I think it might be a time to try Sky,  as the lack of service and lack of help , time it takes t get through to someone concerns me and when the Tech team talk to you - its difficult to understand and the expect that you have all been trained as iphone specialists !

Thank you for your post Garry13 and sorry to hear of the confusion.

Could we please confirm if this email is attached to an active Virgin Media account at the moment?

Could we also confirm if this worked on the Chrome browser? Is this only now happening when you access the email on a Safari web browser? Have yuo been able to clear the cache/cookies from the Safari browser to see if this fixes the issue?

Also, are you able to download an email client application (Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail etc) and set this email up to this? I'll include the information you need to set up our email addresses with a client application here for you. If you've already done this previously and it is having some trouble could you please delete the email from the app and then re-add this using the settings given?

Let us know how this goes.

Thank you, Emily.

Yes I do have an active media account -

I can get emails on my phone if i go through Chrome but I am told that you are unable to change your browser from safari on iphones - of course I can use the google chrome as my internet explorer.

I have cleared the cache/cookies from the safari browser.

Sorry I am not sure what an email application form is.

I don't understand how I have been receiving my emails for over 15years on safari and now due to some issue at Virgin I cannot receive them anymore

Thank you for the information, on an iPhone I do believe you can download the Google Chrome app for free through the App Store if this may help?

An email app would be downloadable on the App Store as well, this would be anything like Outlook where you can put the email information in and then it will connect to the app making everything accessible from here for you.

Thank you, Emily.

On our wavelength

The problem is VM disabled a lot of ntlworld emails accounts, after loads of calls and people on the forum I have got my ntlworld email account up and running after 35-40 days. Whoever contacts you to tell you to change your email password as this is the problem ,tell them the problem is the email address has been disabled and their IT department need to enable it. The problem kept going on and on as their IT department only went back about 10 days ago so nothing was being done when people where raising tickets. Insist that they forward thus to their IT department not try to fix it their selves as they cant
