Lost emails

Hi,

I have lost all of my emails on my virgin mail account. There were thousands in there with important documents and now they’re all gone. I don’t even have an archive folder.

Can anybody help?

Thanks in advance

Re: Lost emails

Hello

Have you checked in the deleted folder for them on webmail ?

https://my.virginmedia.com/my-apps/email/mailbox

How are you checking you emails is it in webmail or another email client like Outlook ?

Regards Mike

Re: Lost emails

Hi,

yes I have checked, the bin/trash folder is empty.

I have checked them on my iPhone mail app, my MacBook mail app and also on virgin mail on the browser.

I've also looked for an archive folder but can’t find that anywhere.

Regards,

Sally

Re: Lost emails

Exactly the same has happened to myself within the last hour.

All of my inbox has been wiped. Checked online and the same - Thankfully some key emails in my folders are still there but the inbox has completely been wiped out.

I cant even bring myself to call the helpdesk and go through the hassle of identifying myself (been a customer since the Telewest days in mid 90's) only to get a ticket and nothing happen.

Re: Lost emails

This has happened to me too.  Everything before last Thursday has just disappeared.  Is there anyone out there who has retrieved their lost emails?

Thanks in advance

Sign into webmail and confirm folder subscriptions by:

  • select ☰ > Settings > ▸ Email
  • scroll down to foot of page
  • select Change IMAP subscriptions
  • expand all folder by selecting and confirm all folder are (ticked)
  • select Save
  • select Email (located top left)
  • review content of any newly subscribed to folders for missing emails

If the emails remain missing then unfortunately they are considered unrecoverable. Should you wish to investigate possible causes then look to see what commonality exists between you and others who have experienced the same issue.

Re: Lost emails

Thank you for your help - mine were all ticked so to no avail.

Oddly, although the emails have gone missing in the webmail and my ios devices, on the ios devices, if I can not see them but type in subject or key word they come back so I can open them.

For example, earlier I typed in "blinds" to find an email for an order I placed last year and the email which had been left in the inbox appeared and I could open it etc.  When I closed it it was gone again (but I could get it back via search).  If I try that on webmail it makes no difference.

Re: Lost emails

In iOS Mail, is Filter by: Unread on?
2021-05-18.jpeg
select filter option as indicated by highlight (1) above to turn it off.

Apart from suggesting a check of Settings > Mail > Account > account name to confirm whether it is listed as IMAP or POP I am stumped as to the cause; if the latter is shown (POP) then emails were downloaded and stored local on your device.
