Your reply is unclear, are you seeing ☰ or not?
Are you using webmail or other email client; if latter which?

Hello,
I am using virginmedia email on a laptop. I see the 3 dashes and I see view source. However I am told that is not the email source, it is the BTC whatever that is. I need to find out where a scam email came from? The "From" looks genuine but apparently scammers can copy genuine addresses into the email, so that you are led to believe it's from a genuine company.
Hope this helps

Who has told you it is the BTC you need?
FYI: just as GBP indicates a value is expressed in Great British Pound, BTC indicates a value is expressed in Bitcoin
To determine where an email originated and it delivery path use a header analyser service. For example:

As my learned colleague用心棒 has guessed, someone seems to be trying to sell you Bitcoins – and they will no doubt readily accept your credit card and/or bank details in payment for same. Best advice I can give you is -
DO NOT TOUCH THIS WITH A BARGEPOLE.
A scammer has probably picked up your address details from the contact list of one of his recent victims.
