Boxing has made a welcome return to our screens this month, and Saturday sees the showpiece event of the ‘Fight Camp’ extravaganza as Dillian Whyte squares up to Alexander Povetkin in a much anticipated bout for the interim WBC Heavyweight title.
There’s plenty at stake in this fight, with the winner propelling themselves to a likely fight with Tyson Fury. The fight was originally scheduled for May, and it promises to be worth the wait when these two heavyweights. The fight is all part of the ‘Fight Camp’ series of boxing, based at Matchroom HQ in Brentwood, it’s seen a high quality card of fights taking place each Saturday throughout August.
For Dillian Whyte, as the current owner of the interim WBC Heavyweight title, he’s the favourite and the Brixton fighter will be under pressure to deliver. But 40-year-old Povetkin has pressures of his own. This looks likely to be his last chance for possible World Title glory. Defeat here leaves him with few remaining options. It all adds up to a night of drama, and you can watch it all on Virgin TV.
