The latest software updates (5.08 to 5.13) have been completed for 360 and Stream boxes. Here is an update on the main changes.
Updating Home Menu Titles
We have refreshed the names of the top-level menu options to make it easier to find the content you want to watch. “Catch Up” is now titled “TV Shows” and “Box Sets and Movies” is now titled “Movies”
Removal of series production date under show title
The original production date of a series will no longer display under the show title. This is to avoid confusion around new series of long running shows, as the original production date could often be years, or even decades in the past.
Removal of YouTube Kids app
The YouTube Kids app closed as a standalone app on August 27th so this has now been removed from the App section. Kids content can continue to be accessed through the main YouTube app via a kids profile.
Improvements to profile creation and settings
A new Default Profile on Start-up option has been introduced, titled ‘Last used’. Prior to 5.11, the default was ‘Shared’. You can change this setting to Shared, choose a personal profile or leave as Last Used.
Improved tips and tricks in TV Guide
There are now some useful tips available to getting more out of your TV Guide. If you use the remote’s voice command and say the word “Help” when on the TV Guide screen, the tips will show on screen (example below)
Regional channels displayed in content folders
Regional channels will now only display in content folders if they are available in your location.
Personal Home screen
Some tiles on the Personal Home screen will now show content from across the Virgin Media O2 brand, including information on Priority tickets and updates on new features.
Removal of “Flo” keyboard
The “flo” keyboard option that allowed you to highlight three letters at a time before selecting your chosen letter has been removed. The traditional keyboard to search for shows remains.
Disney colour scheme
The Disney+ app colour scheme has been updated to reflect their branding change from blue to turquoise.
And finally..
Previously, holding the Live TV and 0 buttons together for several seconds unpaired certain remotes from your Virgin box. This function has now been removed to prevent this from happening accidentally. Holding these two buttons together will no longer unpair the remote from the TV box.
