How to watch Ramirez v Taylor

Not since Ken Buchanan 50 years ago has Scotland had an undisputed boxing world champion. But that is the history awaiting Josh Taylor this weekend if he can overcome Mexican American Jose Ramirez in Las Vegas. All four boxing titles are on the line here, making this one of the biggest fights of 2021, with the winner set to be crowned undisputed light-welterweight champion. You can see all the action live on FITE with Virgin TV.

Taylor earned his chance at the titles with a fine victory over Regis Prograis in 2019, a fight that really made the boxing world take notice, before cruising past mandatory challenger Apinun Khongsong within one round last year. His record speaks for itself with 17 wins from 17 fights, 13 of these via knockout.

The Tartan Tornado, therefore, has every right to feel confident but in Jose Ramirez he is up against one of boxing’s greatest talents. Like Taylor, Ramirez has yet to suffer defeat with a perfect record of 26 wins from 26 fights, 17 coming via knockout. He has been the unified holder of the WBC and WBO light welterweight belts since defeating Maurice Hooker in 2019.

With so much at stake, this promises to be a must-watch bout. Is Taylor the Scottish boxing champion 50 years in the making? Find out on FITE this weekend.
