In a fight that has been a decade in the making, a long-term rivalry outside of the ring finally moves to the canvas this weekend as Amir Khan and Kell Brook go head-to-head to settle one of boxing’s oldest grudges.
For years a fight between the two enemies has felt within grasp but for various reasons failed to materialised. That is, until now. And whilst there is no title belt on the line and both fighters are moving towards the conclusions of their careers, it should prove well worth the wait.
Khan, who shot to prominence in 2004 as a 17-year-old by winning an Olympic silver medal in Athens, hasn’t stepped foot in the ring for over two years since a fourth-round victory over former featherweight champion Billy Dib. Brook by contrast has more recent experience, defeated by Terence Crawford in November 2020 for just the third loss of his 42-fight career.
Despite their successes throughout the years, the outcome of this fight in front of a 20,000 strong Manchester crowd may ultimately shape the legacies of Khan and Brook, making this an unmissable fight.
As well as the main event, the undercard also features impressive up and coming names from British boxing, including Frazer Clarke and Natasha Jones.
