How do you upload a photo when posting question if the file is too big?

Hello. I tried to post a question but when I tried to add a photo I was told the file was too big, that the maximum file size is 1048K. It's just a regular photo, taken on my smart phone then sent to my email, but it's  1.8MB. Any suggestions?

Hi @matthewphilip

I  find all photo's taken on my mobiles/tablets are too large and need resizing.

You could download and use image-size which works on both android and ios devices.

I also use a free program on my PC (Irfanview) to resize my photo's before posting. It's a very versatile program and can also play music and videos. I've been using it around 15 years now and it's updated regularily.

Thanks, Dave. I'll check out resizing them. Seems odd that a company like Virgin Media wouldn't cater for standard photos on their forum (?).

Hi again @matthewphilip

VM  do cater for posting photo's of varying sizes, although in common with a lot of forums, certain sizes are restricted.

"Choose an image size.

Note: Full Size inserts the image at the full size of the original file. Small, Medium, and Large insert the image at the sizes defined by the community"

You can also post a link to images from external sites

Thanks again, Dave. I downloaded the Image Save app and resized the photos. I'll bear in mind your advice here for the next time. If you know anything about disconnecting routers I'd appreciate you taking a look at my post in Networking and Wi-fi.

Microsoft Paint is old but works for me to reduce the size of images.
