V6 box series links not always working

I tried to set up a series link but it does not appear to work properly. No series link symbol appeared on the guide, but in the scheduled recordings some episodes appeared from next Saturday missing the ones this week. In the process of investigating I noticed in recording hiccups that some programmes are trying to record three or four times. I have tried restarting the box but with no success.

Any ideas?

    Post up your series-link settings, and examples of the programmes you think are recording in error.

    There's a very good chance this is down to understanding how TiVo recording logic works - it will always seek the first available episode of a given programme, and then put grey entries in the recording hiccups for the duplicates.

    If your SL is set to "new only" or "new & reruns", you should only get one copy of each programme. If set to "everything", then logic follows.

    Let's see your settings for the link in question, and if necessary I'll test it on my V6 to see what's going on.

    Sounds like the recording hiccups I see could be a red herring. I tried to record some old episodes of Benidorm. Set up a series link from the episode tonight on ch 150, Thats TV,  series 9 Ep 2 at 2100.  I have got a bit further this time, a series link symbol has appeared on Series  9 Episode 7 which is on Saturday but not included the episodes before that.

      And your series link settings as requested?

      Either a screenshot, picture or just type them out, whatever's easiest.

      Just for info, all episodes from all series of Benidorm  are available on ITV X.

      Most episodes are also available on Disney+ and Prime Video.

      Including your SL as per later reply...

      The "new & reruns" should give you one copy of each episode per 28/30 (I forget which) day period. My V6 picks up... Monday 2100 S9 E2, Tuesday 2100 S9 E3, Thursday 1100 S9 E4  (recording clash Weds 2100), Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday all 2100. Everything else looks like a duplicate, and correctly dropped.

      Recording hiccups will give a one-line reason for each grey entry which signifies a recording not scheduled, with the reason why. I suspect the 28day rule may be kicking in, or you may have set them to record manually at some stage, and manually cancelled them. That would flag them as "do not record" for the same 28/30days.

    start from series 1

    get in hd if poss

    record new and reruns

    keep at most 25 recordings

    keep until space needed

    start/stop 1min/ 4 min

      @newappollo, I don't find ITVX or BBC iplayer very good. Is just easier with everything on the V6 box but eventually I suppose I will have to use streaming

        iPlayer should be as good on the V6 as any other device, to be fair.

        ITV-X is pretty poor in enforcing un-skippable adverts, unless you have means to override that. I certainly avoid use of the C4-app for precisely that reason.

    @jopitts, many thanks, I did not know about the 28/30 day rule, will just leave it alone now and see how it pans out though am not exactly sure why it is not starting to record until Saturday

      Respond to the questions in my post above, and we might well find out.

      Check your recording hiccups for each "failed" recording, and look for the one-line entry against each episode. What is it?
