Does your TiVo have any service faults with it? If so, then a swap to V6 is done as a matter of course.
If just requesting a swap (which is entirely understandable), you do risk being offered a TV360 instead. Which may or may not suit.

The box does sometimes upon turning on get stuck on a message saying something like 'channel information loading' no matter how long I wait. I have do restart the box for it to start up correctly. Also before it was removed Netflix would randomly crash, same with BBC iPlayer. I'm not sure if these count as a fault.

Yes that's a fault, report it as such.
