Other ISP and Internet types

This may seem like a easy question to some but I'm finding it hard to find the answer I'm looking for (don't worry VM I'm not jumping ship...yet)

So what ISP or Internet type support your one WAN IP to a PC not a router?

Thanks

Not too sure what you are asking, but I suspect any Openreach based ISP that let you use your own router will allow this.

I know with Aquiss I can connect my laptop or PC to the ONT and connect without any router if needed.

  • I don't really understand your question either (more me than you) so I reluctantly went AI with it and was told that you would need static IP probably via a business ISP like VMB. 🤷

Like G.FAST can hardware pass the one WAN IP to a PC?

I use Optyx Broadband, supplied by Open Infra and this allows it, I’ve tried. In fact they do not even supply a router, it’s up to you. Why do you need this?

Does not look like I can go with Aquiss but here's the thing not all ISP that do ONT allow you to get the WAN IP to PC like VM at this time  (official that is) it seems no ISP states this clearly I could move to another ISP they say you must use this router with no way to have the one WAN IP to a PC like VM do on Docsis

A lot of ISPs use CGNT, which is not really your own WAN IP address utterly useless when ou want to run your own servers. Mine does, but fortunately they also give you a real WAN IP address if you request it.

That's a shame as they run on both Openreach and City Fibre from memory.  They also supply static IP for IPv4 and IPv6.  Not the cheapest, but the Customer Service is excellent.

For our education, why have just one PC on an internet connection ?

Less to go wrong and not due to a fault with a router doing NAT or other way to get many devices online and work.

let say a code fault with ALG for FTP stops you going to a FTP server or a client connecting to your FTP server fails.

and any other things like how a session is handled
