My understanding is once you recieve the price increase notification you have 30 days, from the price increase notification, to advise VM that you wish to leave under the VM T&Cs, see below. 30 days after VM recive your notification that you wish to leave, your contract will end.

we will notify you of this and you may cancel this agreement without paying an early disconnection fee by giving us at least 30 days' notice as set out in paragraph N.1. You need to give us that cancellation notice within 30 days of us notifying you.

Further to my email notification informing me of a monetary increase. O2 emails have started landing today. Airtime April increase is 13.4% RPI. As we have a VM broadband account and also 4 O2 airtime accounts, I can see we are going to have a major headache. Unlike all the crying public sector peeps striking and getting wage rises, I have had 1 in the last 10 years with this year getting a one off £500 which after tax and NI was nearer £300. It is going to be hard to budget this.

If they are getting wage rises they are not striking and not crying.

It's a good job these public servants, such as nurses, are capable of more empathy than yourself.

Not wanting to go off topic. We’re sat at home trying to get our heads around a slight increase. 2 family members are teachers. Both are currently on half term family holidays abroad. My wife is a teaching assistant. 2 out of 5 days there isn’t even a teacher in her class. She earns £12500 per year full time. Who should be getting a rise 🤔.

Also public sector are in a far better place with regards to earnings and pensions. You say punch up. In hospitality I can happily pay my staff £12/hour but your pint of beer is £6. I actually believe we should pay everyone a minimum of £20/hour and allow wages to catch up with those far above and housing prices. My brothers first house was £34k he had a deposit of £2k(approx £9k in todays money) I need a deposit of £45k to buy right now.

anyway back on track I’m putting myself in a position to jump from all these contracts. This annual RPI increase should not happen mid contract and it hasn’t until recently. We stay with the big guys as it’s easier but will pay off O2 and work a little harder to find cheaper options

I have to point out that VM, Sky and BT TV are Pay TV providers, and this TV is a want - not a need. If you don't have the budget for this then switch to Freeview or Freesat (with perhaps a streaming device from Amazon or Roku), and you should also look for a cheaper ISP as VM does not have particularly good prices for broadband-only customers. If your budget gets bigger one day you can look at your Pay TV options again.

I get what your saying, but why should we accept downgrading as a way of affordability. With a household income of 50k I should be able to afford, but why should I accept such increases. I actually have sky for tv and that’s my next move I think to bundle into one. Also it’s difficult when you have kids to reduce yourself to less channels and the ability of on demand and recording.

We are not talking here about extending our luxuries, we are talking about what we have grown to accept becoming unaffordable, because many companies can exploit one sided contracts to increase and maintain their profits.

If we didn't all do our best to resist this increases in all aspects of our life, many would have us eating gruel and burning furniture to keep warm !

It's important that we look forward and maintain/improve living standards, not look back like "The Four Yorkshiremen".

After the price rises I'm planning on moving. Question is i cant be the only one, so where is everyone moving to?

I've moved over to Three mobile Broadband. Had it a week and no complaints.

I regularly stream 4K content and have experienced zero buffering.

It will however depend upon the coverage in your area and I imagine the number of devices that might be using it simultaneously.

I get all my online content via Freeview/FreeSat and the various players and by skipping around the free offers from other providers.

At £20/month for 24 months with 3 months free, my BBC licence fee and the occasional blu-ray disc I am more than happy with the cost.

If you read up the thread, there are also plenty of smaller, full fibre providers who might not yet appear on the comparison sites due to their limited coverage at present.

Enjoy the shop, there are alternatives out there.

..... should add that my mobile BB also has the benefit that I can take the router away with me in the campervan over summer.
