Online Security not saving - Sorry the changes you made were not saved

I'm unblocking games to allow my son to game. When I hit save I get the message "Sorry the changes you made were not saved". Yesterday the website was down "telling me to try again later".

Any help appreciated, my son is going mad!

  • Hi matspring

    Welcome to the community forums

Sorry to hear you're having issues customising your online security.

Just to confirm, are you making these changes to your Virgin Media websafe via the online account, or through a browser or 3rd party security software?

  • Chrome browser. I've tried on my phone and laptop,  same problem

      Thank you for confirming matspring

If you're looking to change your chrome browser security and a webpage as a trusted site, please load the webpage you'd like to access and on the warning or lock icon in the url box, click on this and you can change the site to trusted.

Please let me know if this has not been successful and we can try another way.

I don't understand your reply. For clarity see the screenshot. I've been a virgin customer for 6 months or so and have never experienced this problem before. I block/unblock games daily

  • Exactly the same problem at my house can’t turn the gaming block off. Tried lots of different ways.

  • Hi,

I am having the same issue. I'm using an Edge browser on a windows 11 device. I am trying to change one of the security settings to allow us to use MS teams. Each time I make the change and click 'save', I get a message that it is not possible to make the change:

Bypass Child Safe & Virus Safe

This is a workaround for when Child Safe & Virus does not or cannot be turned off

Changing the computer's network settings to use any Public DNS should re-gain full access.

Try with Cisco’s OpenDNS using 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220

OpenDNS provide instructions here : https://use.opendns.com/

For Google Public DNS it would be the same method using  8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

For an XBOX or Sony Playstation modify the network settings and specify the DNS manually as the OpenDNS or Google DNS values.

The Child Safe facility has been dying for many months & now it has frozen for most everyone.

Have your son change his DNS to a Public DNS & the job is done.

I am now making a complaint to OFCOM on their website - suggest you do the same.

  • Does anyone know when this will be fixed? It hasn’t worked for o et a year
