Hi Dayve1

Sorry to see you are having problems ordering the wifi pods.

They are free if you are on the Gig1 package, or Ultimate Oomph, or on a Volt bundle, however if you are on any other package then they are £8  a month.

You need to use the Connect app to scan the wifi speeds.  You need to perform the Home Scan in the area where the signal is low(est)  The home scan feature will guide you from room to room to carry out WiFi speed tests. If it finds a potential signal-less spot, it’ll test your broadband speed to the WiFi Hub to make sure there isn’t a problem with your network.

If everything’s okay with the Hub, the app will take you through to order a WiFi Pod to help boost your WiFi connection.

The info below is a copy paste of the steps provided by @John_GS  (Forum Team) in how to order them when using the Connect app.

  • Tap Start the scan
  • Then Start the scan again
  • While connect to WiFi, Tap I’m ready
  • Wait 2 mintues for Scan
  • Scan complete, Tap continue
  • Tap Add a room, Tap the room you're in
  • Start the Scan (do this in every room)
  • Scan complete
  • Tap Optimise WiFi now if an option
  • If so, Tap Optimise
  • Optimisation complete, Tap Rescan room,  Tap Start Scan
  • Tap Order a WiFi Booster if an option

If that doesn't work you can call  0800 064 3850 to order the first one

VM will only send out one at a time, and there must be at least  7 days before ordering each one. It's up to three in total depending upon coverage.

Following that if you need additional pods you can order them by logging into /my-virgin-media , as per the info below from https://www.virginmedia.com/wifi-max ?

How do I get a second or third WiFi Pod?
If you’re not getting download speeds of at least 20Mbps in every room with one WiFi Pod, you can request a second or third by signing in to My Virgin Media, clicking on Your Package and following the steps in the WiFi Max tab

Hi, tried all that, some rooms superfast, some down to less than 10Mb/s, but was not offered a pod. Will have to try ringing vm on that number, when I have an hour to spare hanging on waiting. Cheers,  Dayve

Pod came today, plugged it in upstairs and now get decent speeds in most rooms. Shall try moving it to optimise signal, but big improvement already

Im on the 1g package and due to the location of my router I often get good speeds in my living room but it will randomly drop to low speeds, especially when gaming. I also get around only 10-20 mb/s if say near my garden window working from home, I did the speed test 3 times showing under 30 mp/s but the app never offers the option to order a wifi pod. Is it just a sales pitch or do these things actually exist in the wild? lol

Hi @inminorchords,

Thank you for your post and welcome back to our community forums. We're here to help.

I'm really sorry to hear you're having some trouble with your Wi-Fi connection recently. What does it state exactly when you run a test via your Connect App in the impacted area?

Thanks,

Hi Zach,

This has fixed all the issues I had, no more internet drops.

Thanks
