TiVo Box and Samsung QLED

I bought a new Samsung QLED 4K TV.

My TiVo Box is connected to the new Samsung QLED 4k TV with the HDMI cable.

When I connect TV the picture is fine but there is no sound.

I tried

1. Changing HDMI ports: DID NOT WORK

2. Chaging the Dolby Digital to PCM on TV and Virgin box both: DID NOT WORK

3. Replacing the HDMI cable with another one I had: DID NOT WORK

Any ideas please... I need help.

Re: TiVo Box and Samsung QLED

Have you accidentally pressed the mute button on either your TV remote or your Virgin remote? Also try your volume buttons on your remotes.

Re: TiVo Box and Samsung QLED

Nope.
In fact I got virgin remote set to change the volume etc as well.

Youtube from mobile or netflix etc works fine.

its only to do with Virgin Tivo and Samsung Tv Combo :(.

Rest all works.

In fact I took the same cable off the new tv and put on the old Bush Plasma TV and it all works fine.

More ideas welcome 🙂 please..

I have one doubt both HDMI cables I have are not new like 2014(1.4) I am told the old cables work on new HDMI 2.1 ports. Is that correct?

As the picture is crystal clear and all the Virgin menu including Channel/ Volume work so my doubt lies on some Virgin Tivo setting that is not working for Samsung QLED Q80T. Any suggestions are welcome :)...

Hi look up on here V6 and Samsung 4K TVs as it seems quite common for connection problems with them. Regards Micky

Re: TiVo Box and Samsung QLED

Virgin tech support is awful.

1. Let us change your box. Wait for Tivo. NO SOUND.

2 Let us change your Hub. Wait for Hub delivery. NO SOUND.

3. We will book you for 72 hours Tech Experts call. NO ONE CALLED.

Does anyone on Virgin end reads these forums? Or its just people suffering from Virgin talking to each other on this forum?

Due to Covid the waiting time for each call made to Virgin is 30 - 60 mins. 😞

Anyone from Virgin .... hey ... anyone listening .... ???

@virgintv @virgin @virgintechsupport ???

Re: TiVo Box and Samsung QLED

No advice for you sorry but honestly I am excatly the same.  I actually gave me day up yesterday to ring them.  They promised a telephone call from an engineer within 4 hours. Never happened, rang back and she said it will happen today. Did they ring? Course not. Never been so disgusted.  Good luck.

Re: TiVo Box and Samsung QLED

Hi you could try pressing HOME >Settings>Video>Auto  Detect

• Swap the HDMI lead
• Try all the other HDMI ports on the TV
• Eliminate any HDMI switches / splitters / sound bars /
amplifiers etc. You may be able to use the optical output
on the V6 or TV instead, or connect an amp to the
“ARC” (audio return channel) HDMI socket on the TV to
get the audio.
• If there is a Chromecast plugged into the TV,
try removing it.
• If the customer has a Samsung 4K TV, go into the TV’s
settings menu, then go to Broadcasting → Autotuning
and turn off Autotuning.
• On a Samsung TV, go to Picture → Expert Settings and
disable “HDMI UHD Color”.
• On any 4K/UHD TV: the HDMI port must support HDCP
v2.2 for On Demand to work (even SD or HD content)
• Make sure the TV firmware is up to date.
• Try a factory reset on the TV

Regards

Rich

Re: TiVo Box and Samsung QLED

Tried all ....

Now on call with Virgin support.. 1:30 mins gone ... jumping from one person to next ...

I have no clue.

Any virgin Technicians on this forum?

Is there a way Virgin can send an engineer or at least take remote control of boxes? Why they connect Tivo box to internet if there is no remote connect possible to resolve issues?
