TV service is appalling at the moment, regularly pixalating and unwatchable. Same on recorded shows. Ok watching freeview, Netflix and Amazon through the tv, not using the virgin box

Sounds like you might have a fault that's affecting your TV signal. Make sure you reboot your box once, then call 0800 5610061 which will list any known faults in your immediate locality.
If you've drawn a blank at this point, call Virgin to report your fault. 150 from a VM phone, or 0345 4541111 otherwise.
