Since receiving my new router - not sure if related - the TV image and sound recurrently stutters particularly after pause playback or recorded programmes

So you've got a V6 box.
If this mainly affecting playback of delayed or recorded programmes, it would tend to suggest you have a problem with the box's hard drive - this is entirely unrelated to your router.
It'd be wise to just check that watching live programmes and VOD (on demand) is unaffected, because issues there would mean a different fault.
If you do have hard drive issues, they won't get any better and will only get worse over time until the box completely fails. I'd recommend calling the fault in to arrange a box replacement.
