Once ordered by phone how long is it until sky sports is activated?

it's usually immediate when ordered over the phone. You could try rebooting your box.
If that fails you can try the following
Using your TV box remote Select the home button > Help & Settings > Settings > Network
Then Select Connect to the Virgin Media Service now
If you still haven't got them by tomorrow then you can either try calling 150 from your Virgin landline, or 0345 454 1111, but best to call at 8am to avoid call queues.
