I guess you currently have the V6 box and the new box you are referring to is the Virgin 360 box (which is actually the same box, but with different software). Sadly, the 360 box/software is only available to existing customers who are on the Ultimate Oomph Bundle. If you are a new customer then it is worth calling Virgin and asking the question.
I would agree that, whilst the TiVo is perfectly servicable, the V6 runs on identical software but is an improvement in every way possible. More recording tuners (6 rather than 3), quicker in general operation, more streaming apps, etc.
If you've had your current TV package for a while, the best method would be to renegotiate your whole bundle-deal with a view to re-contracting for 18months and getting a box-swap to a V6 as part of the bargain.
