Simple answer. It is a serious breach of your contract to alter or otherwise interfere with any of the VM cables. If you do and introduce noise or errors in the network segment VM will charge you for putting it right. They will also charge you for compensation for all the other customers on that segment if they lose or have degraded service and ultimately they will simply terminate your services.
At the moment VM will not carry out the work you need to avoid exposing their techs and you to virus risks. When the service returns, as it will the charge for this discretionary non-fault work is £99.
