Compulsory TIVO Upgrade

I was forced to upgrade to a TIVO box.

What a USELESS box with multiple useless and unnecessary functions. Recordings disappear.

I want my old box back.

Suggestions.

I would advise refuse to accept a TIVO upgrade - waste of money.

The firmware platform that runs the V+ & VHD boxes is being retired, as it is now nearly 20 years old. The boxes are also not internet connected, & with more & more VM services becoming internet based, they are no longer fit for purpose, hence their removal.

I moved from a V+ HD to a V6 just over 12 months ago, & it is a far better box all round. If recording suggestions are annoying you, you can turn them off through the menu system.

I don't need Internet connectivity the record a programme.

I don't stream.

I also don't need useless suggestions list.

Simpler is better.

Yes you do. TiVO boxes obtain their programme guide information from your internet connection.

Yes you do. All digital channels are streamed in one form or another. Most are still broadcast streams, but as the TV sector becomes more diverse some of your channels may arrive through internet apps.

Others have responded with some excellent points, but I'd also question why you have Virgin TV service when perhaps a basic Freeview TV without any STB would be more suitable?
