The replacement remotes aren't always new and may be paired to a different make of TV so may need resetting first.
Try resetting the new remote and then set it up by following the instructions <<< here >>>
If know you've tried this already but go to Home > Help and Settings > Help > Set up Remote.
Follow instructions but instead of using the codes there you can also put 0999 in place of the code and press channel up until the TV turns off. then press ok.
Also, instead of the 0999 try the vodes for Sony TV listed <<< here >>> - The first one that appears to work sn't always the best so try a few others too.
