pixalation damage while watching movies and sport channels

As as engineer at the university of bolton.

I am m testing the tivos v6 boxes in the house. There seems to be an issue while watching sports or movies channels.

The only changes i made in the bedroom is by installing a

Coax cable extension from Amazon UK to move the box from a side table under the tv to a side table next to the wardrobe.

VM CS found the bedroom tivo V6 device with no problems at all.

But i am still having issues with pixalation damage during the day

The only advice VM gave me was to change the tv setting in the VM Tivo v6 to 1080i

Re: pixalation damage while watching movies and sport channels

Hi by using third party cables and lengthing them you have upset the signal levels, anything like this should be carried out by virgin as they use specialist cables that won't cause ingress on the network, and can then ajust the levels between the street cabinet and your system to allow for the extra length, it will cost £99 but it will work.Regards Micky

Re: pixalation damage while watching movies and sport channels

Changing any TiVo settings will do nothing to fix the issue. What you describe is a signal issue and will need a visit if you can't find a faulty cable/connection.

Could just be a plug not screwed in - but adding a 10m extension cable may have upset this signal level.

When calling Vm CS they said to change the setting to 1080i for the tv.  That seemed to fix it

Re: pixalation damage while watching movies and sport channels

An engineer came to my place today and said that coax cable into the sh4 was faulty  and there was no problem with the work I carried out with the extension of the TiVo box v6 in the bedroom.

All it was an old cable they installed 2 years ago on a sh3 or TiVo box v6.  That needed replacing.

I recieved an email from Virgin Media saying there was an issue with the network and it was fix on the day of the engineer visit.

Hi tecky7,

Thank you for coming back to us and for the update, I have had a look our end and cannot see any further issues, fingers crossed the issues you were having were down to the cable.

Kind regards
