Have read quite a few of the posts on the annoying picture flickering. Turning the TV on and we get this annoying flicker that may be constant or intermittent or fine for a while and then a 'flick'. Only had Virgin V6 for less than 2 weeks and already having major issues. Have looked at HDMI cable and that seems fine. Have checked the cables are all secure - and they seem to be. Have rebooted twice a day every day for the past few days but it may fix it for while and then it returns. It seems to be on all channels. Netflix seems worse (although tonight an engineer is fixing this in the area it seems and should be resolved by 20.55hr). Now resorted to not watching TV through Virgin and back on freeview.
The obvious thing to do is to try a different HDMI port on your TV.
It sounds as if the TV is changing mode when it detects the signal from the V6 box, if you have multiple video modes set on your V6 box then under certain circumstances the TV may appear to change mode, which would be the flicker you refer to. To check your video out put settings: Home > Help & Settings > Settings > Video Output > Video Output Format Ensue that only one for the supported formats is ticked i.e. 2160p, or 1080p Pressing OK on a supported format will add or remove the tick When you are finished move up to Continue and press OK and follow the on screen instructions. Whilst the above may not resolve your issue it will force the V6 to only output at one format and may make resolving the issue easier.
You can't learn anything from a mistake until you admit that you've made it.
Thankyou for your reply. What you wrote made sense. Unfortunately it did not work. Only one format ticked 2160p. Interestingly doing a check on which formats could be supported made it worse - unable to read instructions for longer than a second. Saved the 2160p only format and turned V6 box off and back on to reboot and still flickering, but able to read the home page inbetween flicks, so back to square one.
