4 of the last 5 days we have had intermittent service on broadband in the streets around us but virgin deny and have to wait 4 days for an engineer (SE London)
lots of pixelation on TV - today its unwatchable on mosts channels
SNR - 20-40db (mainly 40), RS uncorrected 20000->60000
any ideas as calling support yields no assistance whatsoever

If there is a local outage then VM will cancel any engineer visits.
Have you looked at Check service status at the top of the page? You can also a run a test on your equipment from there.
If nothing is showing you could also try the Service Status number 0800 561 0061. This often gives details of more local issues down to postcode level.

checked all the various online status apps, plus the remote "let me check you" - the status page says no known faults, the remote "let me check gets to 100% and agrees there is a problem"!
You say that the entire neighbourhood have issues, but have they all reported those issues to VM?
As has already been suggested, multiple customers reporting the same fault is a quick way to get VM to recognise faults that have otherwise been missed.
