connect second v6 correctly

Just installing a replacement second v6. It came without a remote but I think I'm past that issue now. (wasn't as easy as implied on this forum but fixed after searching elsewhere on net). Having set up the new box connected to the hub via ethernet cable, the channels appear to be loaded. Then moved the replacement box to second room. My main issue is to get the new box on my home network properly so that I can see one box from the other box and vice versa. I can't find any instructions on how to do that.

The second box will have to connect via wifi as not hardwired on ethernet cable when in use.

Pressing WPS button on the HUB didn't seem to work.

Previous one worked after intervention by virgin media home visit but this should be something user configurable.

A step by step guide would be helpful.

Re: connect second v6 correctly

Thanks for taking the trouble to respond. sorry for being a novice at this.

How do I get to the Connect to Wifi screen to try to Connect manually?

I've tried the WPS button method again without success.

Using your remote

Home>Help&Settings>Settings>Network>Connect to Virgin Media Service now

Clipboard01.jpg

The online manual is available here Virgin_TV_V6_user_guide

Re: connect second v6 correctly

Tried that - it says

! Preparing (Network cable unplugged)

then I "Press OK for more information"

Connection Problem ...Ethernet cable is unplugged. (N27).

But I want to connect via wifi now. I only connected via ethernet because the old remote didn't work straight away as it needed to be paired.

Re: connect second v6 correctly

If you have the ethernet cable in the V6 remove it so it will search using wifi -  one of the options on the screen should say Change Network Settings. Select this and you should be able to connect your box via wifi.

Re: connect second v6 correctly

Got manual connection to wifi to work and the second box can see the main box so I'd call that success.

Probably didn't help that I started the installation on ethernet and then stopped when I had channels and remote control. I suspect it was expecting the ethernet installation to fully complete. It wasn't so obvious how to get back to the wifi setup screen but appear to be sorted now.

Thanks for your help.
