YouTube parental controls

Just caught my 8 year old watching entirely inappropriate content on the YouTube app. Checked the settings and he'd simply changed it off restricted mode. Surely there must be a way to lock it?

Re: YouTube parental controls

You can lock the YouTube app using:

Home > Help & Settings > Parental Controls > Lock apps & games

Once the app is loaded, then you are at the mercy of YouTube's settings.

Re: YouTube parental controls

Hi @adecooper

On the V6 you can If you can lock YouTube so it's only accessible through entering your PIN.

Go to Help & Settings >  Parental Controls >  Lock Apps & Games > select YouTube.

The same function is also available on the 360 box should you upgrade.

EDIT: Crossed with japitts.

Re: YouTube parental controls

Hi @adecooper

Thank you for making this post regarding the YouTube App, I'm sorry to hear your 8 year old managed to change the settings and watch inappropriate content. That is not ideal at all 😞

If you have a V6, then YouTube can be locked and only accessible through entering your PIN. Simply go to Help & Settings, Parental Controls, Lock Apps & Games and then select YouTube.

As @newapollo mentioned, the same function is also available on TV360 should you upgrade.

Hope this helps!

Kind regards,

Serena

Re: YouTube parental controls

Both the V6 and 360 have 'YouTube Kids' I think which should mean that there isn't an in-app restricted mode to turn off in the first place too.

Re: YouTube parental controls

Yes, I was aware that the app can be locked but I don't want to stop him using it so that's not an ideal solution. I think YouTube kids is the way to go, but again I'm at the mercy of what YouTube think is appropriate. Nightmare
