Is it a new installation? Or perhaps a new set box box?
If so try rebooting the V6 please. If the channels are still greyed out then you need to phone to get your box activated. 0800 953 9500.
You will need the box serial number, and your account and area number.
If it's neither of the above, can you confirm it's a V6 box and not one of the older boxes that may have been discontinued
