Virgin TV colour issues

At least twice a day the colour when watching any channels via the Virgin box go very red, patchy and weird contrast. Basically unwatchable. Turning the box off for a decent period of time resolves it sometimes but not all. All other streaming services via the tv are fine so it can't be the tv. HDMI cables and tv sockets have been switched, but no difference. Settings have been checked also. Making tv watching and recording via the box unwatchable. Any advice please? Feels like the box needs replacing, but even getting hold of somebody at Virgin to register this is impossible.
