I am still using a TiVo box although I have received a new V6 box. Not yet installed because I still want to keep some recording. I have been using the TV control app on my iPads in preference to the remote to control the TiVo and have been using it since TVAnywhere happened
Today it has stopped working and gives me either "Streaming Error 1001" or Connection fail.
Upon calling Virgin I was eventually informed that TV Control should never have worked without a RJ45 (Ethernet) connection to the hub. The TV Control app does state that one can use it anywhere with WiFi, 3G or 4G.
