V6 to V6 playback - Wifi or ethernet

Hi

I have 2 V6 boxes, both on the ethernet around the house. However it seems to sometimes stutter in its playback on the second V6 from something recorded on the first V6 box

It seems playback uses Wifi? If so, does that mean Ethernet is only used for watching "general" catchup?

Thanks

A V6 connected by Ethernet can’t use WiFi so your issue has nothing to do with WiFi.

Hello

If your boxes are Ethernet connected then the playback from the 2nd box will happen over Ethernet. Wireless would only be used if you don't have a wired connection.

If an Ethernet cable is connected then the GUI doesn't even show the WiFi options.
Have you ever used WiFi? If not then it can't be using WiFi as it won't be authenticated.

Does the show play OK on your first box?

I suggest you perform a speed test on both boxes to make sure you don't have a problem with your Ethernet.

Can you stream the program on the TV Control app ok?

And if you're getting any error messages when using VOD or multi-room streaming, these can be very helpful in helping point where the underlying issue is.

Re: V6 to V6 playback - Wifi or ethernet

Hi

Thanks for the info

I will check out what is in Settings shortly.

It does play okay on the first box. It does occur with multiple shows, all from the first box. Everything recorded and played on the second box is fine.

I'll do another speed test but when I checked before it was very fast.

And finally, yes on the app is fine from either box.

Thank you

Re: V6 to V6 playback - Wifi or ethernet

Hi
Just performed network test and no errors. I can see the ethernet address which matches what I see in my router.
How the boxes are linked are through network plugs in to the house power supply, so maybe its that. Will run some tests on the plugs to check
Thank you all

Stuttering video sounds like insufficient connection speed to me. I'd expect a Vxxx error sooner or later, somehow somewhere - which would confirm it. That would normally be expected with WiFi rather than hard-wired, but all the same.

I'm with you on the second!

Re: V6 to V6 playback - Wifi or ethernet

.... so Ethernet over your electric wiring for both boxes?

If so, more likely to cause problems than over WiFi.

I suggest trying WiFi for one of the boxes.
