V6 box with 4k AV Reciever.

I have an Onkyo TX-SR494 AV receiver.

I have recently upgraded to a v6 from TIVO. I can't get it to work. It worked fine with the TIVO.
I can plug the V6 straight into my monitor and it works fine but this means no sound. My Onkyo also runs my PC fine at 4k.

Anyone come across this issue ?

My onkyo specs are  •

Re: V6 box with 4k AV Reciever.

Just to add an update. Managed to downgrade the v6 to 1080p. It works now but strange it does not work in 4k 😞

Is the monitor HDCP 2.2 compliant?

Re: V6 box with 4k AV Reciever.

The monitor is an ASUS VP28UQG.

It was supposed to support HDCP 2.2. Asus is a bit vague on the subject but all the reviews I read say it is.

It does work in 4k mode when plugged directly into the monitor.

Is there any HDMI setting you can change on the amp? Or are there only certain HDMI ports that are HDCP 2.2 compliant. Also, are both HDMI cables high speed?

Re: V6 box with 4k AV Reciever.

Hi. I have just moved over from sky so i have the new v6 box aswel. I have the exact problem with getting an image with my onkyo TX-NR616. I have tried all possible display changes on the v6 box. I have also just tried a lindy hdcp converter but still nothing. Same with you my v6 works direct with  the tv but not through avr. Did you happen to change any hdmi settings on the onkyo by any chance?

Re: V6 box with 4k AV Reciever.

I haven't got the same amplifier (I have a Marantz), but I had to buy an up to date HDMI cable to get things working. If you haven't got one you know is HMDI 2.1 to try, then they can be bought quite cheaply from the likes of Amazon.

Re: V6 box with 4k AV Reciever.

I tried various hdmi cables that im using direct to the tv and they all work so assuming they are 2.1s inc. the hdmi given with the v6.

On another note i just changed the v6 to 1080p then plugged it back in the onkyo to which it worked until the v6 was put on standby and turnt back on and then back to square one with sound and no image. Im within my 14 day cooling off so i believe im going to be going back to sky if they cant sort it when i call them.

Re: V6 box with 4k AV Reciever.

Hi Michael619, looking at the specs of your receiver it will only passthrough up to 1080p, that it why the V6 works when reduced to 1080p output. You'll need to upgrade your receiver to put the V6 through it at 4k.

Your only other option is to connect the V6 to the TV and the either the V6 or the TV to the receiver by optical cable.

Re: V6 box with 4k AV Reciever.

Hi. I thought as much. My only issue is that it only works on 1080p until it goes to standby and then turnt back on and back to a blank screen so even when set to 1080p its not fully functional.  I believe i will be canceling virgin as my skyQ has never had an issue. Shame really.
