1: The box hasn't been pre-activated, and needs to be... calling in is the only way to do this. 0800 9539500 and have the box serial number handy. You may be able to do this on the automated system, otherwise queuing for an agent is the fix.
2: The box is trying to download software and doesn't have a working internet connection - the V6 needs 2 separate connections to work. Co-ax cable for your TV channels, and (ideally Ethernet) internet via your homehub for all the online stuff.
