V6 box pixelating and co-ax in feels hot

Has anyone got bad pixelation at present, mostly on the itv/ch4 channels? I have done the usual tests and changed the HDMI cable etc but no joy. I also have noticed that the co-ax input to the v6 box is very hot, almost too hot to touch. This surely is not normal, any ideas?

It does get quite warm but not too hot to touch.

Is the V6 well ventilated or enclosed in a cabinet.

Re: V6 box pixelating and co-ax in feels hot

It sits on a shelf above the dvd player it has a good airflow around it. I was surprised it was so hot. Power side of things I expect to be warm, but signal surely shouldn’t be hot, or is it conducted heat from inside? Thanks for the reply. Does it explain the pixelation, and if so why only on the itv channels? Doesn’t make sense to me, shouldn’t it be all or nothing if it is weak signal?

Hi jl-c,

Thanks for posting!

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your V6 box.

I've located your account and I can see you have a technician booked to fix this for you. Let us know how the appointment goes and give me a shout if you need anything else.

All the best

Josh

Re: V6 box pixelating and co-ax in feels hot

If the V6 box vets are blocked then it will get slightly warm.

The cables to and from the box should not be warmer than the ambient temperature, if they are then they are being heated by other equipment.

It is important that the V6 box should have a free flow of air to prevent over heating and should not be situated on or under other electronic equipment.

Re-seat the co-ax connector, whilst it is technically possible that in mal-fitted cable may cause signal issues and if it is arching may cause heating, it is unlikely.

Re: V6 box pixelating and co-ax in feels hot

I had the same issue last night - the room temperature was very warm due to the weather. The recording I was watching kept flickering and the sound drops for 1-2 seconds every few seconds.

I then tried live TV and exactly the same. I tried Netflix directly on the TV and all was fine so would suggest it's not a TV related issue but the V6 box.

When I feel the back right corner of the box, where the cable comes in, it is very hot. Surprisingly hot!!

I tried this morning and it seems to be OK, albeit still quite hot from the back right of the box but I didn't have time for a long test. Will try again tonight.

The V6 box is not in a cabinet and doesn't have anything on top of it.

Re: V6 box pixelating and co-ax in feels hot

Hi Do not site it on top of the DVD player or any other devices, as when you use the player it will over heat the V6 on standby on top of it.Regards Micky
