Re: V6 box overheating on Standby

Hi ohbytheway,

Can you give us more information on the overheating on both standby and when in use?

Does the V6 box  make any noises and is it clear of objects and dust?

Thanks,

Lisa

Re: V6 box overheating on Standby

Vere rarely using it now. Keeping it switched off. No noises, no smells when on standby. Don't know about in use, don't really need it TBH.

Has space round it, not 2 inches in all directions, that's just too farcical for words! No dust.

Have been sent a replacement to try

Hi ohbytheway,

Have you installed the replacement, has this now stopped the issues you were having?

Kind regards

Paul.

Re: V6 box overheating on Standby

not yet, my rheumatism in my right hand has flared up the past couple of days, now seems to be improving probably enough to sort it tomorrow. Having read the recommendation that there should be two inches clearance in all directions is madness. Never found those restrictions on any piece of broadcast TV equipment in 50 years working for every major broadcaster.

Re: V6 box overheating on Standby

uninstalled old v6 as instructed. Started setting up new box which froze during setup. Turned it off for 30 minutes and started again, same result. Phoned tech support to be told, 'busy, delay could be 3 minutes'   30 minutes later got some clown who spent 20 minutes not helping at all, then arranged for an engineer to visit. Not sure I'm going to bother with this service in future.

Re: V6 box overheating on Standby

Hi ohbytheway

Thank you for coming back to us, our boxes as far more advance than years ago and do have more advanced electronics, these can get hot and if in a tight enclosed space this can cause issues,

Kind regards

Paul.

Re: V6 box overheating on Standby

absolute tosh!

What you are saying is you crammed too much into a box that isn't large enough so the components overheat

Why don't you put a silent fan on board?

Define tight enclosed space? Your box needs two inches space in all three dimensions? That surely defies comprehension.

It must be designed by Apple!

Re: V6 box overheating on Standby

That also does not explain why a replacement unit won't work!

Re: V6 box overheating on Standby

Hi ohbytheway,

Have you spoken to the faults team to make sure the replacement box has been activated on your account?

Kind regards

Paul.
