For a few months now series links have not all recorded successfully with the option set to "new only", I have to opt for "everything" to make sure they work. This however results in multiple recordings of the same episode, sometimes all recording at the same time (eg. BBC1, BBCWALES, BBCNI etc).
The guide always knows a link is set because 'change' rather than 'set' the shows in the menu, but the little record symbol never appears if left to "new only".
Any ideas?

If your SL is set to record "new only", which most are, then the first-aired-date is the basis for deciding this. Like any database, the EPG is generally very reliable but is prone to the odd error.
If you spot any errors more than 48hours before broadcast, then an email to tivoguideerrors@virginmedia.co.uk should have it sorted. Don't expect a response, but they're good at getting errors resolved.

Two thing here..
1: Check recording hiccups for an explanation of why a particular programme is not set to record.
2: Do you have any specific examples of programmes you think should be recording but aren't? Date, time, channel, episode would all help others to replicate.

Hi all
This issue had gone away for a while, but resurfaced lately. Specifically Gardner's World last night which is always on series link. Looking into this I believe it was not recorded as the guide stated it was an episode previously shown last month and not new, which of course is incorrect (see pic). I suspect this maybe the cause of other missed recordings over the years, can anyone confirm that this guide is used by the box to control all recording? If so my question is how can the guide be sent out wrong?
