V6 Streaming Setup...

Howdy Chaps,

This has (never) worked on my V6, but I would like to take advantage of seeing my recorded programmes at some point, so hoping someone could advise?

I see there are a few topics on the same query, but none actually provide a resolution other than 'you need a new box' - Which is clearly nonsense 🙂

My V6 is on same WiFi network as device in question. Have uninstalled/reinstalled app and re-logged in to it, etc. See screenshots below...

Re: V6 Streaming Setup...

What is the IP address of the device you are trying to stream to?

Re: V6 Streaming Setup...

Same subnet;
V6 on .104 and the iPhone on .70 ATM

Neither statically assigned (I can try this if strictly necessary...)

Re: V6 Streaming Setup...

Sorry, it was the subnet that was interesting me, given the V6 is on 192.168.1 whereas normally the subnet is 192.168.0 for Virgin Media devices.

No need for static addressing; both should just be on the same subnet.

Does the V6 show ‘pre-condition failed’ for status in its settings? I can’t show the path to this field as I no longer have a V6.

If it is ‘pre-condition failed’, a new V6 is required.

Re: V6 Streaming Setup...

Assuming you’re in Modem Mode with your own router (hence the subnet), have you tried going back to Router Mode as a test and with subnet 192.168.0 to see if the issue remains?

Re: V6 Streaming Setup...

No reference to ‘pre-condition failed’ in any of the menus.

I can get into the tivo web gui via 'Full System information' but this only gives an option of 'Log 911 Timestamp' and 'Proxy Enabled' (Disabled).

Won't go back to router mode, as my current setup requires modem mode. That said, it never worked when I first got the V6 - In router mode 🙂

Re: V6 Streaming Setup...

I believe this is the route to check the streaaming state @Ernie_C mentioned.

Using the TV Control app click on the hamburger icon, the horizontal bars which opens the settings menu

Click Settings > System info - select the box if you have more than one

Below Mobile Devices click on Full System Information -

This will take you to a browser page on your mobile/tablet  - in my case it's 192.168.0.18:49152/sysinfo

Check the second line form the bottom it will either say

Streaming State: Ready or
Streaming State: PreconditionFailed

If it says Streaming State: PreconditionFailed you will need a replacement V6

EDIT - Quick way -   I just typed http://192.168.0.18:49152/sysinfo  into my browser and it opened the correct page

Re: V6 Streaming Setup...

Got it!

Streaming State: Ready
Transcode Status: Idle

There's also a 'Make Service Call' button which isn't clickable 🙂

Re: V6 Streaming Setup...

Any chance of an update from someone @Virgin?

...I can't imagine it's anything too involved to fix 🙂

Re: V6 Streaming Setup...

Hi SirThomas, thanks for getting in touch - apologies for the delay getting back to you.

Apologies for this problem you've encountered setting up streaming on your V6 box s well. It's not something we can fix directly from here as far as I'm aware, however we can raise it with the relevant teams for further investigation. I'll get in touch to confirm the details via PM and hope to hear back from you soon.
